So much going on, it’s hard to keep up
Realizing that I haven’t posted anything new in a while, I thought I would quickly slip in some updates on some of the projects that are cooking.
First off, Hotel Transylvania is headed toward home plate. I have recently finished my duties on character setup and moved into helping the cloth and hair team push these shots through. The animation in these shots are incredible!
Second, on what little spare time I have, I am now involved with a group of friends doing a short animation project. I’ll be rigging the main character (and only character). The hype around this project to the gaming community has been a complete shock and the amount of team members we now have is really surprising. I’m glad I was there at the right time to join this project even though I’m already neck deep with Hotel T.
Lastly (see I told you I was busy) I have been finishing a new Maya plugin that I have hinted before. There are just a couple more parts to add in and then put through some more rigorous testing. While I don’t want to get into details just yet, I do plan on sharing some knowledge that I have learned to make it happen and possibly may offer the tool for sale. With being so busy lately, the time line is looking closer to August when I will have more to share and possibly have it completed by then.
Oh, one more thing. My good friend Josh Burton has started up a website targeted toward technical artists to share tools and information for rigging and animation. Go to CGMonks to see the action.
